We understand that there are documents that need to be signed off on, verified, and authenticated, no matter where you are, so we offer mobile notary services for those who are otherwise predisposed as well.

What are some of the documents that an inmate could require the presence of a notary for during the period they are serving time?

Well, this depends entirely on the inmate. Some of the most common reasons why inmates enlist the services of a prison notary in Portland, Hillsboro and Beaverton include liquidating finances to have access to more cash flow while they are in prison for their needs and needs of their family.

There are also other mortgages that one might have to take out which are under the inmate’s name so if there is no Power of Attorney assigned in the family, they might have to enlist the services of a mobile notary to get the job done. Title transfers, property transfers, and other loans are some of the primary reasons why prison notaries are called for.

What are the important things one should know when you decide to use the services of a notary while you are in prison?

It can become extremely difficult for inmates to take care of their finances and other official agreements and documents while they are serving time in prison. Just because they have no easy access to a notary does not mean that there won’t come a time when they need one. An inmate in prison can also require notarization services for their documents, which is why our mobile prison notary services in Portland, Beaverton and Hillsboro come in handy.

Why is it so difficult for inmates to sign or officiate documents while they are in prison?

As per the court of law, inmates are not allowed to keep any personal belongings with them while they are serving time in prison. This means that they do not have any form of identification on them whatsoever. Most documents require official proof of ID to be notarised, and they require the presence of witnesses and a certified notary professional to verify and officiate the deed. Without ID, it becomes difficult for inmates to perform this simple task, which is where we come in at PDX Signing and offer our assistance.

Ideally, the inmate is required to have two credible witnesses that can vouch for their identity. Or they have access to their inmate ID and code that they can use as identification. The rules differ based on the facility the inmate is serving time in, so the notary public and the inmate need to coordinate accordingly to turn this situation into a realistic possibility.

The mobile notary also needs to call the corrections facility the inmate is placed at to confirm if they can allow the security guards at the prison itself to act as witnesses for any document signing. Some state laws or facility laws may allow for this while some may not. If in case the security guards are not allowed to act as witnesses to the document signing process, we can offer witness services to our clients as well. We can send two credible witnesses along with the notary for the inmate’s document signing and verification process so that the entire process becomes a lot easier for the inmate.

What are the critical documents required for a prison notary?

The most critical document required for a prison notary is the inmate’s identification. It is difficult to access because the inmates are not allowed to keep any personal identification or belongings while they are serving time. They have an inmate registration ID that can act as a proof of identification, which could be used for the document signing or verification process. Besides that, there are no other requirements from the inmate’s end when they hire the services of a mobile prison notary in Portland, Beaverton and Hillsboro.
